UXUA was born as a tribute to the natural beauty and culture of Trancoso, a colonial fishermen’s village which passed recent centuries in a state of blissful tropical isolation. Our hotel sits at the heart of the community, on the 500-year-old town green known as the Quadrado. The sights, sounds, colors and daily routines of Trancoso life surround us.

This is a part of the world with a special attitude towards modernity. Tradition remains cherished, and while new may be good, old is always better, and objects crafted locally by human hands are still highly prized. As in most remote settings natives here tend to grow up to be independent and resourceful, while across generations share a joyful, spontaneous approach to life that Bahia is famous for.

Our goal as hosts is to create an environment where you unwind, relax and slip naturally into the village’s rhythm, gaining a chance to appreciate the true Trancoso lifestyle.

VISITS

Hotel grounds and facilities are for exclusive use of our guests in order to ensure their privacy. In consideration of other guests, parties and outside visitors are not permitted in our casas, nor is day use of our facilities open to non-guests.

At UXUA Alma houses Casa Anderson and Casa do Beco visitors are welcome but limited to the same number as the house's maximum occupancy, while parties and loud music are strictly prohibited in respect to the Historic Town Square neighborhood.
