VISIT TO ESPELHO BEACH
perfect day trip with unforgettable views
Below the cliffs 25 km from Trancoso is the famous and dramatic landscape of Praia do Espelho, where the sea is so serene that it perfectly reflects the sun and moon, like a large mirror. Various options of beach bars to spend the day.
The trip is made on a 4x4 and on the way back to Trancoso you can stop at the tiny village of Itaporanga where the Pataxós sell charming handicrafts.

VISIT TO CARAÍVA VILLAGE
detox from the modern world where a river meets the sea
Caraíva is a charming, rustic fisherman village on a narrow peninsula between the Caraíva river and the sea, on the edge of a Pataxó Indian reservation just 38 km south of Trancoso and just past Espelho beach.
The trip from Trancoso is made on a 4x4 (up to 4 people) and once there the village is reached by a small boat trip.

BOAT TRIPS
explore southern Bahia by sea
There are many beautiful beaches to be visited along the nearby coast. Espelho and Caraíva can be reached by boat in 35 and 60 minutes, respectively, and stops at Itaquena or Itapororoca beaches can be arranged for snorkeling at their coral reefs.
Praia do Espelho
Located between Trancoso and Caraíva and considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. Known for its natural pools that reflect the sky during low tide.
Caraíva
Picturesque village located a few kilometers from Praia do Espelho, it's a true tropical paradise known for the meeting of the Caraíva River with the sea.
Corumbau
Famous destination because of the sand crown that forms at low tide and for it’s calm sea. Perfect for a day of quiet and tranquility.
Recife de Fora
With Marine Park status and protected by a municipal law, it’s one of the best snorkeling sites in the area. There are are excellent peaks for the practice of scuba diving in the surroundings, with depths up to to 15 meters.
Whale watching
High seas boat trip to see the majestic humpback whales that pass through Trancoso between August and September. - subject to availability -
We recommend leaving Trancoso early morning, return trip is mid afternoon before sundown.

HORSEBACK RIDING

One of the most-loved activities by our guests is guided horseback riding along Trancoso’s beaches to the Buffalo Valley (named after the buffaloes farms in the region). When the moon is full and tide low this can also be a magical experience at night!

KAYAKING
Trancoso’s is surrounded by three different rivers
Kayaking is an ideal pastime here with three rivers running through Trancoso into the sea. You can explore exotic plant life lining the river beds, commune with nature and get a workout all at the same time.

SURFING
the region has great beaches for laid-back surfing
Interest in surfing has grown among Trancoso youth in recent years, and while the local breaks don’t provide opportunities for big wave surfing, Trancoso’s Nativos, Ipatimirim, and Itaquena beaches are great for laid-back wave-riding or a beginner’s lesson with local legend Romualdo.

VISIT TO NATURE RESERVE
bike trails, bird watching or kayaking in Atlantic rainforest
Just 20 minutes from UXUA, the 2400 acre RPPN Rio do Brasil (private natural heritage reserve) is home to 465 fauna species, including 17 facing extinction and 86 exclusive to the Atlantic rainforest biome.
You can enjoy guided bike tours though one of the 8 trails, take part in bird watching expeditions thought the ancient trees or kayak through the river that names the reserve.
Experience includes transfers and a picnic at the RPPN.
